Dear John

Request for information

Thank you for your request dated 28/02/2019 requesting information on
information on the Waitemata Police Asian Reference Group.  You requested:

 1. “I would like to know if Waitemata Police Asian Reference Group still
in operation and who is the current member on this reference group.
Also, how can public express their interest to join the group? How
often this group meet and discuss issue, are there any meeting notes
available.”

Your request has been considered in accordance with the Official
Information Act 1982 and I enclose the following information:

o From the Ethnic Laison Officer – Mr Raymond Wong –

In Waitemata Police we have an Ethnic Advisory Board setup and is
operating for more than 10 years.

All the representatives are Ethnic (refer to the Office of Ethnic
Communities for the definition of Ethnic) and I am not in the position to
disclose their names. There are 8 external members on the board and their
participation is to ensure Police have the Trust and Confidence of the
Ethnic communities.

Public won't be able to express their interest to join the board, as the
external members on the board have work along with Police for many years
and they are vetted to represent their own Ethnic communities.

These members have track records of working tirelessly for communities.
District Commander makes the final decision on who can be represented on
the board.

There are 4 quarterly meetings with the Ethnic Advisory Board members and
I am not in the position to disclose the minutes from the meetings.

If you have any questions, you may contact [1][email address] .

Yours sincerely

Sharon
