I would like all available information on the conditions of the lease of
the ground floor and first floor hospitality spaces at Tūranga central
library to Foundation Cafe- including start and end date, conditions, and
the lease rate. Are there any conditions about using sustainable and local suppliers as part of the lease?

On 23 June 2025 you requested the following information, under the Local
Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA):
I would like all available information on the conditions of the lease of
the ground floor and first floor hospitality spaces at Tûranga central
library to Foundation Cafe- including start and end date, conditions, and
the lease rate. Are there any conditions about using sustainable and local
suppliers as part of the lease?
Release of information
The lease of Foundation Café commenced 12 October 2018 and expires 11
October 2034. The first-floor food offering has been removed from the
lease and is no longer a lettable area. Gross Base Rental is charged at
commercial market rates or a percentage of sales wash up (whichever is the
greater). The current Tenant is Fei Yang Café Ltd. The lease does not
contain any clauses requiring the tenant to use sustainable and local
suppliers.
You have the right to request the Ombudsman to review this decision.
