On 12 November 2024, you requested the following information, under the
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA):

 

Could you please provide the dates for any and all upcoming citizenship
ceremonies from December 2024 through April 2025?

 

Release of information

The Council has not booked any citizenship ceremonies for the period
between December 2024 and April 2025. We are therefore declining your
request under the following section of the LGOIMA: 17(e) – the information
requested does not exist or cannot be found.

 

Please note that while Christchurch City Council organises the ceremonies,
the Council is not responsible for allocating candidates to ceremony
dates. This is the decision of the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA).

 

Ceremonies are by invitation only with invitations sent to new citizens by
the DIA. If you have a query regarding an upcoming ceremony, these should
be made to the DIA Citizenship Ceremonies Office by email to

You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review our
decision. Complaints can be sent by email to

Publication of responses to LGOIMA requests

Please note: our LGOIMA responses may be published on the Christchurch
City Council website a month after they have been responded to, with
requesters’ personal details withheld. If you have any concerns about
this, please contact the Official Information team on
