James Taylor made this Official Information request to Christchurch City Council

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for James Taylor to read recent responses and update the status.

From: James Taylor

Dear Christchurch City Council,

Can you tell me what kinds of contracts count as a contract for the purposes of section 3(1) Local Authorities (Members’ Interests) Act 1968?

Is the Council aware of any declared candidates for Council or Community Board who have a contract of this kind?

Yours faithfully,

James Taylor

Tçnâ koe James,

On 22 July 2025 you requested the following information, under the Local
Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA):

Can you tell me what kinds of contracts count as a contract for the
purposes of section 3(1) Local Authorities (Members' Interests) Act 1968?

Is the Council aware of any declared candidates for Council or Community
Board who have a contract of this kind?

Release of information

A candidate cannot be a person concerned or interested in contracts over
$25,000 with the territorial local authority (section 3(1) Local
Authorities (Members’ Interests) Act 1968). This restriction may be waived
if prior approval from the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) is
obtained. You can find more information about this, including how contract
is defined on the Official of the Auditor General’s website [1]here. A
candidate for election is responsible for identifying if they have an
interest in a contract over $25,000. Council is not aware of any
candidates with contracts over $25,000.

You have the right to request the Ombudsman to review this decision.
Complaints can be sent by email to [2][email address], by fax
to (04) 471 2254, or by post to The Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington
6143.

Publication of responses to LGOIMA requests
Please note: our LGOIMA responses may be published on the Christchurch
City Council website a week after they have been responded to, with
requesters’ personal details withheld. If you have any concerns about
this, please contact the Official Information team on
[3][Christchurch City Council request email].
