Cost of speed bumps clarification
David Palmer made this Official Information request to Christchurch City Council
The request was successful.
From: David Palmer
Dear Christchurch City Council,
Today at the annual plan meeting, transport planning staff gave this advice to Council:
> A very high-level assessment of the transport programme indicates that the construction cost of speed humps within wider projects is between $100k and $200k per year.
I would like to clarify whether this estimated cost is per-speed hump, or whether that is the total amount spent per year on speed humps by the City Council.
Yours faithfully,
David Palmer

Dear Keely,
So to double-check, this means that the council spends a total of $200k a year? In other words, with 20 speed bumps installed per year, we could conclude that the cost per-speed bump is around $10k each?
Yours sincerely,
David Palmer

Tēnā koe David,
With an approximate cost of $100k-$200k per year, this does lead to an
approximate cost of $5k-$10k per speedbump. This does not include the
other aspects of the works, purely the speedbumps themselves.
