Numbers of all offenders who have been identified as participating in the following offences. Violent, Drugs (possession), Drugs (supply) by the following categories.
Incidents of each offence which have been recorded as an offence but not prosecuted.
Incidents of each offence which have been recorded as an offence and prosecuted
Incidents of each offence which have been recorded as an offence and resulted in a conviction.
Incidents of each offence which have resulted in a period of incarceration.
For each of these please also provide a breakdown of what ethnic or racial groups are involved in these statistics.

Thanks for your Official Information Act (1982) request dated 11 March
2019 in which you requested the following information:
“Number of all offenders who have been identified as participating in the
following offences. Violent, Drugs (possession), Drugs (supply) by the
following categories.

and prosecuted.

For each of these please also provide a breakdown of what ethnic or racial

Please see the attached information in relation to categories 1 and 2.
Table 1 shows the numbers of offenders proceeded against for the
‘Possession of Illicit Drugs’ offences for the period from 1 April 2014 to
31 March 2019 broken down by method of proceeding, offender ethnicity and
12 month period.
Table 2 shows the numbers of offenders proceeded against for ‘Dealing or
Trafficking in Illicit Drugs’ and the ‘Manufacture of Illicit Drugs’
offences for the period from 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2019 broken down by
method of proceeding, offender ethnicity and 12 month period.
Table 3 shows the numbers of offenders proceeded against for ’Homicide and
Related Offences’, ‘Murder’, ‘Attempted Murder’, ‘Assault’, ‘Sexual
Assault’, ‘Abduction and Kidnapping’, ‘Harassment and Threatening
Behaviour’ and ‘Robbery’ offences for the period from 1 April 2014 to 31
March 2019 broken down by method of proceeding, offender ethnicity and 12
month period.
In relation to categories 3 and 4 of your request, Police does not hold
this information. With a view to possibly transferring these parts of your
request, we consulted with the Ministry of Justice. The Ministry advised
that they also do not hold the information you are requesting. I must
therefore refuse your request pursuant to section 18(g) of the OIA as the
information is not held by Police and we have no reason to believe it is
held by another agency.
I trustthis information is sufficient for your purposes. If you have any
questions regarding this data, please feel free to contact me via

If youare not satisfied with my response to your request you have the

Due to the delay and this being a regular occurrence from the police, as well as the acknowledgement response from the police implying that requests should be made through the police website rather than here being a breach of OIA legislation I have lodged a complaint with the ombudsman today.
