James Scott made this Official Information request to Auckland Transport

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for James Scott to read recent responses and update the status.

From: James Scott

Dear Auckland Transport,

I made a request to gather information about a camera being installed on Sandringham Road.

https://fyi.org.nz/request/18434-camera-...

In response, you provided generic documentation relating to whole of Auckland strategy for enforcement of driving in Bus Lanes. I explained to you that the Sandringham Road location did not fit this strategy as it is used for general parking outside of it's active hours and does not obstruct any turning lanes, so nobody drives in the bus lane. I asked for follow up information specific to the decision to insert a camera here.

While I am still waiting for an answer to that request, I read in the Herald today that you were planning to remove this general parking without any consultation.. an indication of extreme arrogance and total lack of democracy, as described by Mayor Phil Goff (and me). Therefore, the actual purpose of the camera was to prepare for removal of parking and commencement of enforcement from that street which you did not intend to even tell anybody about, much less enter consultation with affected businesses and communities.

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/auckland-t...

I now request all documentation including meeting minutes where this change of strategy is discussed by Auckland Transport. It will need to include documentation of discussion around, and decision on, not informing or consulting with public, as this is clearly a matter of extreme public interest.

Yours faithfully,

James
