Under the Official Information Act 1982, I request copies of any final or substantive advice, analysis, benchmarking material, research summaries, implementation papers, curriculum progression mapping documents, consultancy reports, or briefings prepared or relied upon by the Ministry of Education since 1 January 2023 regarding changes to the sequencing, progression, or placement of mathematics and English curriculum content within the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum.
This includes documents relating to:
• the work described by the Ministry as ensuring “strong alignment and a well-sequenced progression across the entire learning pathway”;
• any benchmarking or comparative work undertaken to compare the refreshed curriculum with international education systems;
• any work undertaken by Learning First or other external consultants relating to curriculum sequencing, progression, knowledge placement, or curriculum coherence;
• any analysis of the impacts of revised sequencing or progression expectations on learners performing below expected curriculum levels;
• any implementation, transition, pacing, or sector readiness risks identified in relation to revised curriculum sequencing or progression changes;
• any curriculum progression mapping, alignment work, or comparative analysis between the previous and refreshed curriculum structures for Years 0–10.
