consultancy reports, or briefings prepared or relied upon by the Ministry
of Education since 1 January 2023 regarding changes to the sequencing,
progression, or placement of mathematics and English curriculum content
within the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum.

 

This includes documents relating to:

 

• the work described by the Ministry as ensuring “strong alignment and a
well-sequenced progression across the entire learning pathway”;

 

• any benchmarking or comparative work undertaken to compare the refreshed
curriculum with international education systems;

 

• any work undertaken by Learning First or other external consultants
relating to curriculum sequencing, progression, knowledge placement, or
curriculum coherence;

 

• any analysis of the impacts of revised sequencing or progression
expectations on learners performing below expected curriculum levels;

It is important to note that the curriculum development process is an
iterative and evolving one that is being completed across several Ministry
teams and workstreams. Your request, as currently worded, is very broad in
nature and scope.  Attempting to locate and collate all information in
scope of your request would require the manual location, collation and
review of a substantial volume of information and would be a significant
administrative task to undertake.  In the hope that we may be able to
avoid refusing your request, we would like to invite you to refine/clarify
the scope.

 

You may wish to consider narrowing your request in one or more of the
following ways:

 

o Focussing your request on a narrower date range

For example, limiting your request to material produced within a more
refined period, e.g. within the last three or six months

o Limiting your request to a particular document type

For example, limiting your request to final briefings or advice to
Ministers only

o Narrowing the range of topics covered by your request

For example, you may wish to consider limiting your request to documents
relating to specific decision, workstream, output or organisation (e.g.
