📄 Acknowledgement:
Summary
The Education Review Office has acknowledged receipt of this Official Information Act request.
• Request received: 25 March 2026
• Response due by: 24 April 2026 (20 working days)
Scope of Request
This request seeks information on whether and how ERO considers:
• exclusion of parents in school evaluations
• use of legal mechanisms such as trespass notices
• indicators of breakdown in school–community relationships
• governance concerns arising from parent exclusion
It also seeks:
• review framework documentation
• internal indicators or risk signals
• summaries of trends or concerns (since 2018)
Process Status
• Request accepted without need for clarification
• No indication of scope issues or refusal grounds at this stage
• ERO has indicated it will respond within statutory timeframe
Why This Matters
This request relates to how:
• schools manage conflict with parents
• governance issues are identified and assessed
• legal tools (such as trespass notices) intersect with education oversight
It raises the question of whether:
> parent exclusion practices are systematically considered within school review frameworks
Broader Context
This request forms part of a wider set of OIAs examining:
• how agencies record and assess governance risks
• how non-academic issues (e.g. community relationships) are evaluated
• how patterns or trends are identified across institutions
Next Steps
The forthcoming response will clarify:
• whether ERO explicitly assesses parent exclusion or trespass use
• whether indicators or risk frameworks exist
• whether any trends or concerns have been formally identified
Current Status
• Request: in progress
• Awaiting substantive response
