Kia ora,

We have received your request for information 2026-078 on Metlink’s
operating model.

We would like to note that Greater Wellington contracts our public
transport operators to provide the assets and people (including the
vehicles, drivers and depots) necessary for the services to run and the
majority of the infrastructure is not owned by Greater Wellington. This is
a different model than used by Wellington Water, who you noted in your
request, and the terms of management and oversight are laid out in the
contracts, which are available on the Greater Wellington website through
the following link:
[1]https://www.gw.govt.nz/transport/metlink...

In order for us to provide you with the most useful information, we are
requesting that you review this information and clarify the specific
details you are seeking. Please note that amendments to your request will
reset the 20-working day timeframe for a response as set out by the Act.
If no clarification is received our team will proceed with the best
estimation and interpretation of your request.

Please note, we will be responding to your requests 2026-078 and 2026-087
in one response letter. As these requests were received by Greater
Wellington on the same day, this will note change the date our response is
due back to you.

Ngâ mihi,
