Urban on Manners alcohol licensing

Miss W. Forest made this Official Information request to Wellington City Council

Response to this request is delayed. By law, Wellington City Council should normally have responded promptly and by (details and exceptions)

From: Miss W. Forest

Dear Wellington City Council,

Background

Wellington City Council administers the alcohol licensing for new and renewed licenses.

One of these was Urban on Manners on August 2024:
https://wellington.govt.nz/have-your-say...

Renewal usually is three years after the first license was granted which would make it 2021 when the original license was granted.

The company and it's directors have licenses objected previously, e.g. in late 2017:
https://www.ashburtondc.govt.nz/__data/a...

This could mean that Wellington city council has approved an alcohol license three years after that determination for the same business.

I note that typically business register as defined in Corporations Act should contain the trading name as registered business name but somehow this has not been done which in turns raises more questions about the Wellington City Council or it's committee processes regarding licensing.

I also note that currently the national register maintained by the ministry of justice does not seem to have any entry for these premises whilst some version of excel spreadsheet in WCC website lists some date for the business as holding on premises license identified as 49C/ON/235/2021.

OIA Request

Please provide:

1) The original application by the applicant, The Lakehouse Restaurant Limited and / or their proprietors, Mr and Mrs Kelly relating to the Urban on Manners restaurant the business seems to be trading as.

2) Objections that the application or renewal/s received.

3) The determination and / or decision that the council or it's district committee made - none of these seem to be available or accessible via the usual nzlii search

4) The council process documentation that outlines what checks and / or assessments the council currently does to verify the business registration, ownership and the responsible managers relating to the associated licensed premises (given the past trouble was about false information given by the applicant in the past relating to this point)

5) Any documentation of the ongoing checks or reporting that have been done on the premises or the management.

For the avoidance of doubt please include the documentation relating to 1), 2) and 3) on both the original application and the renewal/s.

Yours faithfully,

Miss W. Forest
