Dear Wellington City Council,

Two OIA / LGOIMA requests please:

1. Please advise the total cost budgeted and approved for the planned install of 12 Watts Design speed humps on Hawkins Hill Road, Brooklyn in March 2024, or as an alternative - please provide the cost per hump (i.e. total cost / 12).

2. Please provide:
a) the difference in cost between the initial contractor's (Mills Albert) quotation for the works, and the current quotation accepted (PCL Contracting), and;
b) the reasons why the "Pavement and Minor Safety Improvement" project only commenced 24 February 2022 - some 3 years 3 months after gaining the approval and support in the City Strategy Committee Meeting of 22 November 2018 - and is still not completed 2 years later?

Yours faithfully,

Naomi Steenkamp

Thank you Danika. So, WCC have chosen to wait until the final day (of the 20 working days), to extend the due date by a further 20 working days, because "a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit" - Wow - the one to "consult with" in order to get the answers is a lovely man called Will Melville - being the last Parks Staff member juggling this "hot potato" (or Paul, Sarah, Joel, Denise ...)

It's also important to record that now, A) the work (installation of 12 Watts Profile and not Watts Profile Speed Humps) has been completed and B) the budget for the works is known and likely by now the invoices have been received from the Contractor PCL Contracting, and likely paid.

I find it incredulous that these questions cannot be answered. Perhaps each hump might have cost an embarrassing amount of coin.
