Wellington Metro Upgrade

Iain Palmer made this Official Information request to KiwiRail

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Iain Palmer to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Iain Palmer

Dear KiwiRail,

In relation to the current works underway to upgrade the Wellington Metro Lines along with the Wairarapa Line south of Masterton. Notably; Upper Hutt double-tracking, Wairarapa Line renewals.

What consideration has been made towards the release of replaced rail hardware (rail track, rail fixtures, sleepers, signals) to heritage groups as a public good?

How much replaced rail hardware has been disposed of, or planed to be, through scrap?
Of this material, how much of this could have been given to heritage groups?

Yours faithfully,

Iain Palmer
