Further to your request below, the only heritage railway in Auckland is at
MOTAT

MOTAT is a statutory entity set up under the Museum of Transport and
Technology Act (the Act) and is independent of Auckland Council. MOTAT
undertakes a range of activities which includes the railway located on its
Meola Road site. A link to the Act is here:
[1]https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/priv...

Under Section 21 clause (1) of The Act, Auckland Council is required to
provide funding to MOTAT through a levy.  In order to obtain this funding
MOTAT are required to provide to Auckland Council an Annual Plan which
includes the amount of the annual levy for each financial year. The amount
of the levy for the FY20 financial year was $15,811,739.  Below is a link
to the FY20 Annual Plan and FY20 Annual Report for MOTAT. Any further
detail on the spend apart from what is included in the below plan and
annual report would need to be directed to MOTAT to answer.

Dear Angela Hare,

Thank you for your reply in response in regards to MOTAT, where there are two rail heritage groups (Western Springs Tramway and Western Springs Railway). However, there are a number of other rail heritage groups within the Auckland boundary, how has Auckland Council supported them?
These include;
- Auckland Dockline Tram
- Glenbrook Vintage Railway
- Helensville Railway Station Trust
- Railway Enthusiasts Society Inc

Yours sincerely,
