Kainga Ora leasing from private providers

Dear Kāinga Ora–Homes and Communities,

Recently there has been some discussion on social media that some guidelines relating to the above have changed. Specifically, a increase in rent payable with some costs devolved to the owner. Can you please confirm if there has been a change to existing guidelines and process in some (or all) situations, exactly what the changes are (if any), when or how they may apply are. If not yet in place, the current status of such changes,including what start date is proposed. Please include with your response documentation of any relevant decisions made.

In addition please provide in full the current leasing process, with or without the above changes if any, and a standard lease document.

To be clear, it is expected that commercially sensitive information may be redacted.

Thank you for your email dated 30 September 2021 requesting under the
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) the following information:

 

-          Information on the Kâinga Ora – Homes and Communities leasing
process

 

We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible and in
any event no later than 29 October 2021, being 20 working days after the
day your request was received by Kâinga Ora-Homes and Communities in
accordance with section 15(1) of the Act.

 

If we are unable to respond to your request by then, we will notify you of
an extension of that timeframe.

 

We may also contact you if further clarification or refinement of your
request is required to enable a decision to be made.
