    Kia ora,

This is just an email in response to your below request to clarify whether
by “discontinuance of parenting orders” the you are asking for the:
o number of discontinuance orders made which relate to applications for
(interim and final) parenting orders filed under section 47 of the
Care of Children Act 2004 (CoCA)
OR
o the number of applications filed under section 56 of CoCA for
parenting orders to be varied or discharged.

It is not possible to file for a parenting order to be discontinued.
However, it is possible to file for a parenting order to be varied or
 discharged.

    Dear Media,
Thankyou for your reply. To clarify my query, if a party has filed for a parenting order and the other party responds filing a response in opposition to a final parenting order, I would like to know how many of these responses in opposition are discontinued. IE The other party files a Notice of Discontinuance with the court.
Yours sincerely,
Dave

    Dear Media,
Thankyou for your response. However I'm not sure if this is a semantics issue or a misunderstanding. If a respondent chooses to exit the the Family Court process, their lawyer will submit a Notice of Discontinuance. I know of several people who been through this process where they have simply given up on pursuing parental orders and walk away from the process. Notice of Discontinuance is Rule 195A Family Court Rules 2002: https://www.legislation.govt.nz/regulati...
Yours sincerely,
Dave
