I wish to request in accordance with the Official Information Act (1982) copies of all records and correspondence between senior officers and officials in the armed services and police forces of New Zealand and their counterparts in Australia and Great Britain relating to the theft of medals and militaria in New Zealand during the period 1970-2000. The records to include, in particular:
1- correspondence between the New Zealand Military Advisor in London and the Director of the National Army Museum in London, William Reid, from 1978 to 1987.
2- correspondence between New Zealand senior officers and Baron Ballantrae (Brigadier Sir Bernard Fergusson, former Governor General of NZ), from 1978 to 1980.
3- any records relating to the medal collecting activities in New Zealand of Major Rex Clark (1935-1978) of the Australian Army.

I have been asked to let you know that Police requires an extension of
time in which to respond to your request, pursuant to section 15A of the
Official Information Act 1982, because the request necessitates
consultations such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably
be made within the original time
limit.                                                     

Police require until 6 May 2019 to provide a substantive response to your
request. 

You have the right to ask the Office of the Ombudsman to review this
extension.
