Information regarding serious cases
Hugh Davenport made this Official Information request to Wellington Regional Council
The request was partially successful.
From: Hugh Davenport
Dear Wellington Regional Council,
Attention Margaret Meek.
Sorry about the large request, this is in response to my request at https://fyi.org.nz/request/9293-informat... where the titles of the cases were not available so I am trying just a broad approach were cases marked as "Driving", "Safety", "Incident Recovery", "Passenger caught in doors", "Passenger Interaction", and "Conduct". I am really interested in cases that had a serious safety concern, to see how it was dealt with by Metlink and the operator. However, as I understand it, your system treats "serious" cases as quite broad, hence my broad request. Perhaps this is something you could change in your system for future so you have metrics on what is actually "serious" or not so serious.
I would like to request the following case files from Metlink:
161029
161204
162574
161058
161228
161599
161280

Dear Nichola Powell,
Thanks for that, it is very interesting to see the complaints that are laid here. However, the document you attached appears to have no follow up notes, such as actions taken by the operators. I note that in my request I noted that this request was so I could "see how it was dealt with by Metlink and the operator". I can't do this at all with this data (or I could make the assumption that nothing was done apart from enter it into a system which looks absolutely terrible for GWRC).
Can you please reply promptly with the case files in full. I would expect this to include the original complaint, any updates via email/phone, the response from the operators etc. If your "case file" does not fit this, can you please just release the data, as that was what I intended as listed in my original response.
Yours sincerely,
Hugh Davenport

Dear Nichola Powell,
I should note that by "promptly" I mean no later than the end of 20th March (being the legal due date for this request).

Dear Nichola Powell,
It would also be good if there was complete descriptions for the "Description" field. For example, "getting off the bus at courtenay place and the door closed on her arm and the driver closed the door with her arm in the door and the driver pulled away from the kerb with the passenger still closed in the doros.
The driver did not react at all as she banged on the door and the other passengers on the "
And the other passengers on the ... ? I'm guessing bus, what did the other passengers do? Start doing the Macarena? That might make the driver react... Who's to know without the complete details...
Yours sincerely,
Hugh Davenport
