Dear Auckland Council,

Over the past year:

-How many criminal background checks has Council and its CCOs carried out on its existing staff for internal vacancies?
-Name all the positions/job titles that required these criminal background checks?
-How many internal criminal background checks were conducted without the applicant's consent?
-How many internal staff failed the criminal background checks?
-Of those who failed the criminal background check, how many are still employed by Council and their CCOs?
-What is the total value spent on criminal background checks in the past year and how much from that was spent on internal vacancies?
-Please provide any internal document or policy that outlines the criteria for assessing whether an internal vacancy requires a criminal background check.

Further to our acknowledgement on 27 August 2017, we require more time to
respond to your request.

I’m sorry that we are unable to provide you the information today as we
are still processing and reviewing the informaiton collated for your
request. Therefore, Auckland Council is extending the time limit for
responding to your request under section 14 of the Local Government
Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA). We will reply to your
request by 5 October 2018. Please note this is a maximum response time and
we will endeavour to respond sooner.

The reason for this extension is:
- Consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are ongoing
and a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the
original time limit.

Please note you have the right to request a review of this extension from
the Ombudsman.
