Dear Ministerial Services,

Thank you for your reply. You will see however that the request dates back to May. A response to this request is already quite late.

Inland Revenue Department

Dear H. Crawford,

Thank you for your emails. I apologise for the delay in responding to you
and for any confusion as a result of the acknowledgement letter you
received.

As a result of recent staff changes, your initial email of 23 May 2018 was
missed. I acknowledge the response is now late and I will endeavour to
provide a response to your request as soon as possible.

However, your request for correspondence relating to decreasing the
processing times for PTS and IR3 personal tax refunds is broad, and I am
unclear what information in particular you are requesting. As an example
your request could relate to correspondence relating to our PTS and IR3
timeliness and service levels, or correspondence about this topic at a
higher policy level.

The way your request is currently worded, it would require substantial
collation to prepare the response to your request. To enable us to provide
information to you, I would suggest refining your request.

As background, our current standard for processing PTS and IR3 returns are
as follows:

·         We expect that IR3 returns are processed within 10 weeks where
there are no Working for Families tax credits.

·         PTS are issued within 6 weeks of the date the PTS is generated,
where there are no Working for Families tax credits. Once the PTS is
confirmed any refunds are issued within 10 working days.

·         The service-level agreement is that 85% of income tax
disbursements (not including PTS) are issued within 6 weeks.

Please confirm whether there are particular areas that are of interest to
you.

Kind regards,

Pareesha Mehta-Wilson | Ministerial Advisor
