Apologies but I have only just been made aware of your Official Information Act request to Education Payroll Limited.

Unfortunately, this slipped through our processes at the time, as the info email address that you used was in heavy use due to correspondence in relation to the earthquake and our office premises.

Now that I have been made aware of the request today I am arranging a response as soon as possible. This response, however, will not be within your original timeframe of 17th January.

We would like to request an extension until 27th January to allow collation of the response and the appropriate sign off.

Please let me know if this is acceptable.

I am requesting the legislation, policies or other media that allows Education Payroll Limited, trading as Novopay, to recover overpayments / debts from wages paid to education staff erroneously in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982.

For the purposes of the Act, I am a New Zealand citizen and residing in New Zealand at the time of making this request. You generally have 20 working days to respond to this notice, as required by law. Your response will be published publicly on the fyi.org.nz website.
