ED admissions for falls and slips relating to slippery/wet/icy roads/streets

Meena Amso made this Official Information request to South Canterbury District Health Board

Response to this request is long overdue. By law South Canterbury District Health Board should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

Dear Natasha

Following our conversation, please accept this as a request for information as per the provisions of the Official Information Act.

As discussed, I am writing a piece about the dangers posed by wet, icy and slippery streets in Timaru.

Associated with this, I am also considering how avoidable injury may impact on health services (after all, DHBs spend some time publicising the need to avoid minor injuries and ailments, to ensure EDs are free to deal with serious issues).

Accordingly, I would like to request the following information:

Number of patients presenting to Timaru hospital 's Emergency Department for injuries posed by wet, icy and slippery streets in Timaru.

Yours faithfully,
