Request for the 2016/17 Fare Box Recovery calculations
Tony Randle made this Official Information request to Wellington Regional Council
The request was partially successful.
From: Tony Randle
Dear Wellington Regional Council,
On the 24th of February 2016, a GWRC press release announced "No public transport fare increase proposed for next year" (Link: http://www.gw.govt.nz/no-public-transpor...). This press release included the following statement:
“Low inflation, low petrol prices and healthy rail patronage have all combined to make a fare increase unnecessary this year, “ says Paul Swain
The GWRC Council meeting on the same day was presented, as an attachment, with the GWRC 2016/17 Draft Annual Plan (Link: http://www.gw.govt.nz/assets/council-rep...) that reiterated the position that no Wellington PT fare increase was proposed stating on page 113:
"Fare revenue
Assumption: No increase in fares is proposed for 2016/17. Current projections show that overall Fare Box Recovery targets can be met without the need for a fare increase. On-going low inflation, low fuel costs and flow on affects to patronage have been key considerations."
Can I please have a copy of the Fare Box Recovery calculations that the GWRC used to support the position in the draft 2016/17 draft annual plan that "that overall Fare Box Recovery targets can be met without the need for a fare increase" ?
I understand this information is held in electronic form and I would prefer it was provided to me in it complete and original electronic format.
Yours faithfully,
Tony Randle

Dear Margaret Meek,
I appear to have received an edited spreadsheet that covers part of the GWRC Fare recovery calculations.
My request for asked that I be provided with a copy of the calculations used by the GWRC to support the position that no fare increase was required. It also stated that I would prefer the information "was provided to me in it complete and original
electronic format".
I have received copies of the GWRC fare recovery calculations in previous years and it is clear that I have not been provided with a complete copy of the fare recovery calculations in this instance.
I request that the GWRC provide the complete set of original fare recovery calculation information as was originally requested and as has been provided by the GWRC as substantive responses to previous requests for the same information.
Yours sincerely,
Tony Randle
