New Crossing Plan for Main North Line.

Dear KiwiRail,

I am going to write up about plans for new Crossings that need to be added since Train 721's incident at Hapaku.

And because I have heard how bad Doubledays Road between the Waimakariri River of Kaianga and Kaiapoi is. Doubledays is in due fit for lights and barriers to prevent more fatalities in future.

Now onto crossings that needed for the North Line.
We start off with Ethelton Road because their is a wee sharp area on the downhill area that would require for when the car needs to stop on downhill grade like so they don't collide if the break on the car failed or something and the barriers could stop them. Same with a truck if it couldn't stop in time.

Next we already have a privately owned bells Crossing in Domett for a farmer. But Brophy's Road in Mina near Cheviott would require one oneday should ever Cheviott expand into Mina someday with more neighborhood zones.

Munro Road and Downs Road in Phoebe needs lights and barriers.

In Parnassus, Sisters Road requires one as well but a bells off setting for the night specially if farmers living in the region similar to Scargill.

Fernihurst would need either one or two.

Now in Claverley apparently Hunderlee needs one but their is a Fire Station out their so if a Fire Engine was to end up coming out it needs to stop for on coming trains.

On Moana Road in Goose Bay by the Fire Station I do request their be a Level Crossing with lights and barriers because if the line becomes busy oneday again and if a Fire Engine comes out we can't have collisions by Goose Bay.

I am fully aware of Inland Road Kaikoura Level Crossing which is the Highway 70 Crossing which is an importance because it's on a Highway. But for Kaikoura itself. I do request their be a few installed into the town itself.

Mount Fyffe Road would need one and possibly a Pedestrian Crossing at Davidson Terrace. And one for the Beach and if I can recall where the Crossing is located it would be by Hawthorne Road I think they need to be a Pedestrian Crossing for the Beach with lights and barriers and I'd love to see it similar to Matai Street in Christchurch. So I do think Hawthorne Road needs a Pedestrian Crossing in Kaikoura for Pedestrians going to The Beach on that area and also if the line ever goes to being busy someday. I am also looking to see Mill Road have a Pedestrian Crossing for the beach. But at The New World in Kaikoura I do think a Pedestrian Crossing should be installed with lights and barriers. I suggest Edmund Ave needs one as well.

Now for Hapaku.
Crossings needed for this section need to be installed in Factory Road or Lovers Lane as it's a sharp corner. And where the Curriervan which 5454 on 721 collided at a private home driveway is located. I believe that one does need a Crossing but be a Private Crossing like Benhar has. I think that's a perfect brilliant idea.

Kiwa Road in Mangamanu would require one due to sharp curve on the road.

Halfmoon Bay has a Crossing that I suggest needs lights and barriers on a sharp corner where the properties lay. Which is the Rakautaura area.

Okiwi Bay needs a level crossing as I can see that with metal fences and I need to suggest a level crossing with lights and barriers for that one.

Wharanui Road needs one in Wharanui. And in Ward I request that Seddon Street and Ward Beach Road needs both.

And Taimate Road needs one in the region of Taimate. And so does Marfells Beach Road. And Kaparau Road needs one in Lake Grassmere.

Seddon needs a Pedestrian Crossing for the town with lights and barriers similar to Matai Street in Christchurch.

Knights Lane and Ross Lane need a Level Crossing for Grovetown considering it's a dangerous corner.

For Koromiko I think Para Road needs one and so does Speeds Road and one by Picton Areodrome in Koromiko.

Now the reason I am making considerations to improvement on request to have The Main North Line to proper health and safety is after the incident Train 721 has had at Hapaku and that has made me request improvement for safety on the Main North Line so incase the line gets upto standards in future. It needs to be required that more safety is required for the line and better improvements specially for Kaikoura and areas around the North Line incase a similar mishap happened again for Trains 721. 712. 735. Etc.

Now as for the Main North Line getting new freight trains. Will we be getting 720 back someday I love that one and it's a childhood memory. Also when will be getting more customers for the North Line. And if the government wants a rail line from Spring Creek to Nelson only that would boost freight on it.

Also I wrote the list of Crossings that is needed for future upgrades.

Yours faithfully,

Colby James
