Dear Wellington City Council,

The Mayor has said he is committed to transparency and therefore should support quick and open responses to LGOIMA. I see from FYI requests the Mayor is providing statements in LGOIMAs and providing refusal grounds: https://fyi.org.nz/request/33879-communi....

I request all emails from 27 February to 10 April between, to, or from ELT, the Chief Executive and Mayor and his staff relating to LGOIMAs.

The Ombudsman has stated: Under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA), the decision-maker for information requests is legally the Chief Executive (CE) of the local authority, or an officer/employee authorized by them. Elected members (mayors and councillors) are not permitted to make decisions on LGOIMA requests because they are not considered officers or employees of the council, which is an administrative entity. https://www.ombudsman.parliament.nz/reso...(1)%20OA.-,Return%20to%20text,Return%20to%20text
