Thank you for making an Official Information Request with the Civil Aviation Authority.
You requested:
"Documentation and/or correspondence (including internal communications such as emails) related to the planning, proposal, or introduction of mandatory aviation screening for flights currently exempt from screening requirements."
However, we are unclear on what you mean when you state: " flights currently exempt from screening requirements". Could you please clarify with greater specificity to enable us to respond to your request?? We also require a timeframe for your request (ie July 2025-Dec 2025).
Your original request will need to be clarified or amended to enable us to respond. Please note, any clarification or amendment of a request is considered to be a new request for the purpose of calculating the maximum statutory timeframe for response—see section 15(1AA) of the OIA.

Flights currently exempt from security screening as determined by the "Notice of Direction to Require Screening" as per the Gazetted notice - https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2016-a...
Currently flights with fewer than 90 seats (30 in ex. Christchurch) are not required to undergo screening.
The timeframe for my request is 11 January 2025 through 22 January 2026.

Clarified to:
"Currently flights with fewer than 90 seats (30 in ex. Christchurch) are not required to undergo screening.
