From: Scott Kendall
Good morning
We have received a transfer of your request made to Hamilton City Council
and reply as follows/as attached
- The most recent airport masterplan and / or long term plan 2022 version
attached noting the airport has issued an RFP to update masterplans given
the large growth in airline traffic in the last 9 months.
- Any plans, documentation, correspondence regarding the decision to not
pursue a runway extension: The airport has not made any final decisions.
The attached masterplan summarises arguments as to why this was not
required in 2022. Given the marked shift in our own airport environment
and that of the national view on upper north island infrastructure
resilience the airport is exploring how the designation that allows for an
extension to be constructed in the future may have its lapse period
extended.
- Any plans, documentation, correspondence regarding additional
international services to or from the airport WRAL considers information
regarding additional air services to be commercially sensitive and
accordingly this information is withheld
- Any plans, documentation, correspondence regarding additional domestic
jet services to or from the airport WRAL considers information regarding
additional air services to be commercially sensitive and accordingly this
information is withheld
- Any plans, documentation, correspondence regarding infrastructure
requirements should security screening be a mandatory requirement for all
flights, not just the current >90 seat threshold WRAL considers that
disclosure of this information could largely compromise/endanger security
however in summary, we can advise the recent upgrades to the terminal made
in early 2025 include space for an additional passenger screening lane
over and above what is currently in use. and the departure areas post
screening allows for screened domestic and international passengers to be
kept separated during concurrent operations.
Kind regards
Scott Kendall
