Dear Maddie,

I refer to your request of 18 December 2025.  The University’s response
follows.

‘Under the Official Information Act 1982, I kindly request the following
information relating to admissions to the University of Auckland Bachelor
of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) programme via the Rural and
Regional Admission Scheme (RRAS) for the 2018–2025 intake years
(inclusive):

For each intake year, please provide:
        1.      The total number of RRAS applicants who were placed on the
waitlist for MBChB admission.
        2.      Of those waitlisted RRAS applicants, the number who were
subsequently offered a place.

The requested information is attached.  Please note, in 2018 there were
not enough eligible RRAS applicants to fill the available places and
therefore, there was no waitlist in 2018.

        3.      Where possible, a breakdown of the above figures by
applicant type:
        •       First Year (FY)
        •       Graduate (Grad)
I have been advised that the University does not hold these statistics and
cannot readily create them by generating reports from our systems.

This part of your request is refused under section 18(g) of the OIA.

You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.

Yours sincerely,

Farleigh Quinlivan
