This is a request for official information under the Official Information Act 1982.
To support clarity and efficient processing, I have grouped the questions below using a summary-style format. The headings are illustrative only; the information sought is standard operational data held by Council.
Unless otherwise stated, this request relates to the 2025 calendar year, defined as 1 January 2025 up to and including 7 December 2025.
Wellington City Council Parking Fines – 2025 Wrapped
1. The Big Picture
For the period outlined above, please provide:
The total number of parking infringement notices issued
The total face value of parking infringement fees issued
The total value of parking infringement fees collected
The total value of parking infringement fees written off or waived
2. Top Offences
A breakdown of parking infringements by offence type (for example: overstaying, no payment, broken yellow lines, mobility parks), including for each offence type:
Number of infringements issued
The associated infringement fee
3. Where the Action Is
The top 10 streets or locations by number of parking infringements issued
The total number of infringements issued at each of those locations
4. When It Happens
Parking infringements issued, broken down by:
Day of week
Time of day (hourly or time-band groupings, depending on how the data is held)
5. Repeat Infringements
If held, aggregated information on repeat infringements, including:
The number of vehicles that received more than one parking infringement during the period
A banded breakdown (for example: 2–3 infringements, 4–5 infringements, 6 or more infringements)
6. Appeals and Outcomes
For the same period:

Your request is being considered under the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA).
This email is to advise you that the Council needs to extend the due date
of your response for 10 working days, pursuant to section 14(1)(b) of the
LGOIMA, as consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are
such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made
within the original time limit.
For this reason, you can expect a response from the Council no later than
19 February 2026.
You have the right, by way of complaint under section 27(3) of the LGOIMA,
to request an investigation and review of WCC’s decision to extend by the
Ombudsman. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
