DECISION ON OFFICIAL INFORMATION REQUEST

 

I refer to your official information request dated 24 November 2025 for
information relating to the potential future use of the Troopers Memorial
building, Bank of New South Wales corner, Invercargill.

 

We have decided to grant your request in part, namely information which
relates to building consent applications received for the Troopers
Memorial Bank of New South Wales building.

Response - Council has not received any building consent applications for
this site.

 

We have also decided to refuse your request for information which relates
to correspondence of any kind between HWCP Management Ltd, the Council and
other parties since 2023 on the possible use of the Troopers Memorial
building Bank of New South Wales building, under section 7 (2)(b)(ii) of
the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987. The
reason for this decision is we do not consider there is a greater public
interest in releasing the information. The greater public interest is in
being able to develop the site and this will require complex commercial
negotiations. Should resource consent be applied for in the future, we
would reconsider the decision to release information.

 

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
