Disposal of Surplus Council assets is noted in the Financial Risk
Management Policy on Council’s Website
([1]https://www.icc.govt.nz/repository/libra...)
Page 9, Item 1.7.1.  This is for General Assets and not specific to land
assets.

 

Council has a Policy for disposal of Parks and Reserve Land which was
adopted by Council in 2015 and this is the procedure for disposal of other
non-reserve land as well.  A copy of that Policy is attached.

 

Council may determine land is available for disposal through the Long Term
Plan process or on a case by case basis dependent on the reason for
disposal.

 

Legislation relating to disposal of land is contained within the Local
Government 2002, Local Government Act 1974, Public Works Act 1981 and
Reserves Act 1977 dependent on the type of land to be disposed of (ie
road/reserve/endowment/general land).
