Requesting information regarding 5g towers located on Elles Rd
invercargill , Elizabeth Park Invercargill, Clyde st Invercargill,
Actually any 5g tower in invercargill.

 

Are any of these towers equipped with phazed array antennas?

If so what sort of digital program is running it and are there any
algorithms in any of these digital programs running these antennas?

 

Have any prior studies been conducted to access the health risks
associated with the antennas and the radio waves they emitt?

 

Are there any safety standards or guidelines in place to make sure the
antennas don't pose a health risk to nearby residents?

 

What measures if any , are in place to protect the privacy and security of
personal data being transmitted through the antennas ?

 

What steps have been taken to insure that the installation of the towers
and antennas comply with local regulations and zoning laws?

 

Also can you provide me with information regarding who owns and operates
the antennas and towers?

 

Finally, why were these towers and antennas installed without prior public
notification and consultation,  and when I say public I'm talking about
the public not consultation with the city council, and are there any plans
in future to improve  communication and transparency with the public ?

DECISION ON OFFICIAL INFORMATION REQUEST

 

I refer to your official information request dated 27 June 2023 for
Consult on partial OIA transfer: 5G and local regulations/consultation -
ICC

 

 

The information you have requested is enclosed relating to DOIA 2223-3020
items 7, 9, 10.

 

 7. What steps have been taken to insure that the installation of the
towers and antennas comply with local regulations and zoning laws?

o The sites at 215 Centre Street and 406 Elles Road have had consents
since 2006 and 1997 respectively. These consents were granted in
accordance with the regulations/district plan that was active at the
time.

 

 8. Finally, why were these towers and antennas installed without prior
public notification and consultation, and when I say public I'm
talking about the public not consultation with the city council,

o All consents were granted under the those regulations/policies/Acts
that were current at the time.

 

10. and are there any plans in future to improve communication and
transparency with the public ?

o Any future consent applications will be processed under the
regulations/policies/Acts that are current when the application is
submitted and this will determine the affected parties to be notified.
