Clarification of details relating to an FMHS FTP Committee decision appeal
Jessica Porteous made this Official Information request to University of Auckland
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Jessica Porteous to read a recent response and update the status.

    Dear University of Auckland,
I am writing to file an Official Information Act request to seek clarification of the details in the document ‘FMHS Fitness to Practise Policy’ on the University of Auckland website.
In this document, under point 12, it states that “when the FMHS FTP Committee panel decides that the student is not fit to practise or decides to impose conditions on the student’s continuance in the programme, but does not recommend to the Dean that the student’s enrolment in the programme be terminated, the student may appeal to the DVC(A) against the panel’s decision”.
According to the Management team page on the University of Auckland website, there is no obvious position title which reflects the acronym “DVC(A)”. This acronym is not otherwise clarified at the bottom of the FMHS Fitness to Practise Policy document.
I am writing to formally request that the University of Auckland clarifies what is meant by the acronym DVC(A), and further clarifies the accuracy of the appeal process described in this document.
1. What University of Auckland position is represented by the acronym “DVC(A)”?
	2. What is the name and professional contact information of the DVC(A)?
	3. Is the above quoted information true and correct about the current appeal process for an FMHS FTP committee decision?
	4. If the FMHS FTP committee appeal process differs from the above description, or the answer to the above question is that this description is not correct, could the University of Auckland please provide the most updated and correct information describing this appeal process?
Yours faithfully,
Jessica Porteous

    Dear Jessica,

I refer to your request of 19 November 2023. At the time the FMHS FTP
policy was published, “DVC(A)” referred to the Deputy Vice Chancellor
(Academic). That position has subsequently been disestablished and an
updated policy, with the correct position to appeal to, is soon to be
published. The person to appeal to is the Provost:
