Te Mana Tuhono - Secure Access

Jono Hayes made this Official Information request to The Network for Learning Limited

There was a delivery error or similar, which needs fixing by the FYI team.

From: Jono Hayes

Dear The Network for Learning Limited,

I am writing to formally request the following information under the Official Information Act (OIA):

Regarding the Te Mana Tuhono project, I would like clarification on the three stages involved, namely Equipment Support, Equipment Replacement, and Secure Access.

Could you please confirm whether the Ministry of Education has explicitly stated that all three stages are mandatory requirements, and schools are not allowed to opt out of the third stage, Secure Access?

In accordance with section 12 of the OIA, I want to emphasise that I am a New Zealand citizen currently residing in New Zealand.

Jono Hayes

Dear Jono Hayes

Official information request for detail round the Te Mana Tūhono program.

I refer to your official information request dated 19 June 2023 for more
information concerning access permissions on N4L equipment.  The
information you have requested is enclosed.

You have asked:

Regarding the Te Mana Tuhono project, N4L installs network switches and
Wi-Fi access points with schools. N4L manages this hardware within a
privately hosted and maintained RUCKUS Virtual SmartZone controller(s).

(1) Have there been considerations on what access/permissions schools and
their third-party supplies have within RUCKUS Virtual SmartZone
post-installation?

N4L’s decision-making around access and permissions for schools was
developed with the Ministry of Education and subject to a Certification
and Accreditation process conducted by the MInistry.

(2) Can N4L supply the scope of access/permissions schools have
post-installation?

Role Component Permissions
Read-Write

* Access Points

* WLANs

* Switches
CLI - Switches Read-Only

stage three 'Secure Access' schools and their third-party supplies have
