Internal review of matters raised in IPCA/OPC “photographing members of the public” investigation

Scott made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

The request was successful.

From: Scott

Dear New Zealand Police,

The joint IPCA/Privacy Commissioner investigation report “Joint inquiry by the Independent Police Conduct Authority and the Privacy Commissioner into Police conduct when photographing members of the public” released last month refers to an internal review conducted by Police into matters raised by the inquiry:

“In addition to responding to the compliance notice, Police have undertaken an internal review of aspects of its practice considered as part of this joint inquiry.” (Page 109).

I would like to request a copy of this internal review.

The report also refers to a “summary” of this internal review which was supplied to the investigators; for clarity, I would like to specify that I am requesting a copy of the full internal review, not the summary.

Yours faithfully,

Scott

I hope you'll consider complaining to the Ombudsman about this unlawful delay. Additional pressure from more delay complaints may lead to Police taking their legal obligations under the OIA regarding timely responses more seriously, and it will help the Ombudsman better understand the scope of this compliance issue.

If it helps, I have a template I like to use when complaining about unlawful delays like this one: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ad2Z...

I like how they didn't even bother to add the due date, just "XX 2022"
