that any OIA request submitted from now may take a bit longer.
We will contact you if we have any queries with the request or need to
extend the timeframe for your response. In those cases, we will advise why
the extension is necessary, and indicate when the response will be ready.
Please note that, like all DHBs across New Zealand, Counties Manukau DHB
has begun a process of proactive disclosure, which means OIA responses
will be publicly available via our website around 10 days after they have
been released. Our response will advise if we intend to publish the
response, (with personal information removed) and related documents on the
CMDHB website. If you advise us of special reasons why proactive
disclosure should not apply to your response, we will consider this.
Kind regards
Dinah

Dear Andrew
Re: Official Information Request – Treatment protocols -
Guidelines/Procedures
I am writing to acknowledge your official information request dated 25
November 2021 to the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the transfer from MoH to
Auckland DHB dated 9 December 2021.
We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible and, in
any event, no later than 27 January 2021. We will contact you if an
extension is required.
“Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic response, Auckland DHB continues to
experience significantly higher volumes of requests for information. Many
key Auckland DHB and Auckland Regional Public Health Service staff are
currently committed to tasks associated with the current COVID-19
outbreak. This will invariably impact on our ability to respond to certain
OIA requests within normal timeframes.
Please be advised that due dates for requests received from 29 November
2021 onwards take into account the following periods:
Christmas (25 December 2021)
Summer Holidays (25 December to 15 January)
New Year's Day (1 January 2022)
Day after News Year's Day (2 January 2022)
If you'd like to calculate the due date for your request, you can use the
Ombudsman's online calculator here: [1]http://www.ombudsman.parliament.nz/
If you have any questions about management of OIA during the COVID
pandemic you may find it helpful to read the following from the Office of
the Ombudsman
[2]https://smex12-5-en-ctp.trendmicro.com:4...
Please note that, like other DHBs across New Zealand, Auckland DHB has
adopted a model of proactive disclosure which sees OIA responses
publically available on our website approximately one month after they
have been released. If you believe that there are any special reasons why
proactive disclosure should not apply to our response to you, we will be
happy to consider this.

Kia ora Andrew
I refer to your official information request regarding Guidelines and
procedures for management and treatment of patients, which was received by
Hutt Valley and Capital & Coast District Health Boards (2DHB) on 9
December 2021..
The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we received your request.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our
decision, to 21 February 2022.
This extension is necessary because your request is for a large quantity
of information and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably
interfere with our operations and consultations necessary to make a
decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably
be made within the original time limit. As this is a 2DHB response we are
required to work across two District Health Boards and 5 different teams
at various locations. As you can imagine this is quite a feat to
coordinate especially on the back of staff still away on leave.
If you have any queries, or if you wish to discuss any aspect of your
request with us – including this decision – please feel free to contact
2DHB by return email or by emailing us at
[1][email address]. If any additional factors come to
light which are relevant to your request, please do not hesitate to
contact us so that these can be taken into account.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[2]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or free phone 0800 802 602.

Dear Andrew
I refer to your official information act request below.
The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we received your request. It will
not be possible to meet that time limit, we are preparing a response to
you however are writing to notify you of an extension of the time for this
to, 8th February 2022.
While we are endeavouring to get this OIA response to you within a
reasonable timeframe further internal consultation is necessary to provide
a complete response to your request. In addition to this, our clinicians,
managers and other staff are concentrating their efforts on measures to
manage the current Covid-19 outbreak and as such that a proper response
cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. It is therefore
necessary to extend the time required to provide a response to your
request for information in accordance with section 15A of the Official
Information Act.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about this is available at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

Subject: FW: Transfer of OIA request - Treatment Protocols
Dear Andrew
Thank you for your Official Information Act requests received below by way
of transfer from the MoH.
We are working on a response for you, which will be sent as soon as
practical and within the 20 working day timeframe as per the Ombudsman's
Guidance, 27 January 2022.
Please note, in line with Ombudsman guidance, the three weeks between
Christmas Day and 15 January are not considered ‘working days’. This means
that any OIA request submitted from now may take a bit longer.
Dinah

Dear Andrew
Re: Official Information Act request – Guidelines/Procedures for-
Constipation, Suicide attempt, Postsurgical pain, Urinary retention.
We refer to your official information request received by Nelson
Marlborough DHB on 9 December 2021.
The Official Information Act requires that we advise you of our decision
on your request no later than 20 working days after the day we received
your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time
limit and we are therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the
time of an additional 20 working days to make our decision, to 25 February
2022.
This extension is necessary because, and as specified under Section
15A(1)(b) of the Official Information Act 1982, ‘consultations necessary
to make a decision on the request are such that a proper response cannot
reasonably be made within the original time limit’.
On behalf of each of the two responding services, we will endeavour to
respond to your request as soon as reasonably practicable.
You have the right to seek an investigation by the Ombudsman of this
decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or free phone 0800 802 602.
