Breakdown of number of trips undertaken by Total Mobility scheme members

Alice Jenkinson made this Official Information request to Auckland Transport

The request was successful.

From: Alice Jenkinson

Dear Auckland Transport,

I am writing to request a breakdown of the number of individual trips undertaken by members of the Total Mobility scheme in the Auckland region, where a scheme member's Total Mobility card is swiped (or used to tag on/off as an AT HOP card) for the trip, broken down per week, since the 1st of January 2019.

If it is possible to do so, please provide this information broken down by the number of public transport trips, versus the number of subsidized taxi trips. Please provide this information in the form of an Excel spreadsheet file.

Yours faithfully,
Alice Jenkinson

Kia ora Alice,

I’m the LGOIMA Business Partner who’s looking into your case

My name is Varsha and I’m a LGOIMA Business Partner at Auckland Transport.

Thank you for your request on 1 October 2021 for information about the
Total Mobility Scheme.

Your request as it is currently framed requesting for data broken down by
week will be very difficult to meet without substantial collation. Unless
your request is amended, we may have to refuse it under section 17(f) of
the LGOIMA, which applies where the information cannot be made available
without substantial collation or research. Please let us know before 15
October 2021 whether you are prepared to amend your request and, if so,
how. Below is a detailed explanation of a charge and non-charge option.

Charge option

If we were to answer your request as it’s currently framed and generated a
week-by-week report, it would take us 12 hours to gather the information.
The first 5 hours are provided for free by Auckland Transport, and
thereafter we charge at $47.50 per half hour.

We reached the total of 12 hours by estimating it would take us 5 minutes
per report to go through approximately 140 reports, this equals to 700
minutes, or just under 12 hours. If you want to pay for the information
please let us know and we will consider this when we make our decision.

Non chargeable option

If you were to refine your request for example to monthly report, then the
data is consolidated into one report. With 5 minutes per report times 33
which comes equals to 165 minutes or just under 3 hours.

Please let me know by 15 October what option you would like to proceed
with. or if you would like to refine this part of your request.

You are able to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this
extension. Information about how to make a complaint is available
at [1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

The quickest way to get this to us, is to reply to this email leaving the
subject line as it is. We’ll make sure this information is added to your
case.

From: Alice Jenkinson

Hello,

Thanks for your response.

I am generally happy with the non-chargeable option given. I am, however, particularly interested in the weekly breakdown around lockdown periods - specifically the latest Alert Level 4 period.

If I were to refine my request to ask for a monthly breakdown for the period since the 1st of January 2019, and a weekly breakdown for the period starting the week of the 16th of August 2021, would the collation of this data take under the 5 hours that Auckland Transport provide at no cost?

Yours sincerely,
Alice Jenkinson
