Waka Kotahi / Vodafone Shared Trenches and Ducts

Jonathan Brewer made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency

The request was partially successful.

From: Jonathan Brewer

Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,

Your document WK ITS-01-010-202008-STD-DUCT.pdf states that along State Highway 1 and State Highway 16 (the transport corridors) there are fibre duct trenches and chambers shared by Vodafone New Zealand and Waka Kotahi (the sharing arrangements).

Please release all information and documents relating to the sharing arrangements including:

- date of establishment of the arrangement, and original parties involved
- nature and duration of the sharing arrangements, including km of transport corridor and number of chambers shared.
- policies around chamber access and maintenance
- ability for competitive providers to access similar arrangements to existing trenches and chambers

Please provide Waka Kotahi's stance as to whether the transport corridors are now subject to the Utilities Access Act 2010, and if not, why not.

Yours faithfully,

Jonathan Brewer
