Matthew Hooton made this Official Information request to Auckland Transport

The request was partially successful.

From: Matthew Hooton

Dear Auckland Transport,

Under the LGOIMA, I request all information held by Auckland Transport about the incident on Auckland Harbour Bridge on Sunday 30 May, prior to, during and after the incident. (This media report refers: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/cycling-pr... )

In particular, I am interested in what advance warning Auckland Transport or any of its directors, employees, consultants or other agents had of the incident, and what actions were taken to encourage, deter, facilitate or prevent the incident.

However, please note that my request is broad, and includes all information as stated.

Yours sincerely

Matthew Hooton

Good afternoon Matthew,

My name is Nicole and I’m a LGOIMA Business Partner at Auckland
Transport. I’m responsible for looking into the official information
request you made on 31 May 2021 for information AT hold's about the
incident that occurred on Auckland's Harbour Bridge on Sunday 30 May 2021.

As your request is very broad, it would be difficult to respond without
substantial collation. Would be possible to perhaps provide a time-frame
(ie date to and from) for the information that you require?

At this stage it won’t be possible to meet the time limit of 29 June
2021 and we are therefore letting you know of an extension of the time to
make our decision, to on/before 13 July 2021.
This extension is necessary because consultations within Auckland
Transport, and external consultations with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency
and NZ Police are necessary to make a decision on your request. Therefore,
a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time
limit.

You are able to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this
extension. Information about how to make a complaint is available
at [1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Nicole

Dear Matthew,

Under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
(LGOIMA), we are required to provide a decision (whether we hold the
information requested and can provide it) within 20 working days from the
date a request being received, unless unable to in this timeframe, an
extension of the timeframe is able to be communicated.

The decision on this request was extended in order to consult with third
parties (as explained in my extension email dated 24 June, this was to
consult with NZTA and NZ Police) extending the time to make the decision
until 13 July.

We have provided our decision on 13 July and are working on providing the
information with without undue delay to you.

We have met the statutory obligations under LGOIMA and we are currently
working on your request. As mentioned, due to resource constraints we
require some time to collate the information that you have requested,
looking at providing this to you no later than 6 August.

I hope the above clarifies your queries.
