Extract of data from OIA Tracking System
Shane Gibson made this Official Information request to Department of Corrections
The request was partially successful.
From: Shane Gibson
Dear Department of Corrections,
Please provide an extract of data from the system you currently use to track information requests submitted under the Official Information Act 1982.
The extract should be in a machine readable form. This means either via a publicly accessible API or file in csv or JSON format.
The extract should have the following details in a single row for each request that was submitted:
- The title of the request.
- The date your organisation received the request
- The date of the final response from your organisation to that request, or the date you closed the request
To reduce the effort required by your organisation I am requesting records for the date range that the data is available in your OIA tracking system. For example if your OIA tracking system only holds two years of records then I am requesting data for those two years.
Yours faithfully,
Shane Gibson

As you implied in your annotation earlier, you would have pretty solid grounds to complain about this extension. Considering how late Corrections sought clarification on your request, it seems almost certain that the real reason why they won't be able to complete your request within the standard 20 working day timeframe is simply that they didn't start working on this request until the time limit was nearly up. Extending a request under s15A does not exempt an agency from their legal obligation to make a decision and communicate it as soon as reasonably practicable.

Waited 20 days to respond asking for clarification.
Then went for an extension to respond.
And when they did finally respond, excluded the descriptive information (title etc) I was actually looking for.
Things to do with this request
- Add an annotation (to help the requester or others)
- Download a zip file of all correspondence
