Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,

 

At present I am conducting some research which effectively creates a
metric describing the supply, quality of, and dependence on public
transport within each 2017 Area Unit across New Zealand. As part of this
research, I am also attempting to develop a metric that shows how likely
individuals are to switch between private and public transport.

 

In this regard I would like a data set that specifies the number of
vehicles in each 2017 Area Unit and the number of vehicles in each area
unit whose 'Motive Power' can be classified as either:

 

- PETROL HYBRID 

- ELECTRIC  

- PLUGIN PETROL HYBRID

- PETROL ELECTRIC HYBRID

- ELECTRIC [PETROL EXTENDED]

- DIESEL HYBRID 

- DIESEL ELECTRIC HYBRID

- PLUGIN DIESEL HYBRID

- ELECTRIC [DIESEL EXTENDED]

- ELECTRIC FUEL CELL HYDROGEN

- ELECTRIC FUEL CELL OTHER

 

In effect the data set would like as follows:

 

AU2017_Code        Total_Number_of_Vehicles      
Number_of_Specified_Vehicles

500100                    100                                         5

 

In this simple example there are 100 vehicles associated to Area Unit
500100, 5 of which classed into one of the categories above.

 

If it is possible, the exact same information at the 2018 SA2 geographic
level would be great, but I understand that this may not be possible.

 

I am also aware that some of this data may have to be confidentialised as
per the specifications of Privacy Act 1993.
