Process behind alternatively fueled vehicles policy
Matt Johnston made this Official Information request to KiwiRail
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Matt Johnston to read a recent response and update the status.
From: Matt Johnston
Dear KiwiRail,
I would like the following information relating to the "Alternatively Fueled Vehicles" policy that has appeared with recent system upgrades. https://www.interislander.co.nz/plan/ele...
1- What are the justifications, research, or risk assessments used for the requirement of no rapid charging plugin electric vehicles for two hours prior to sailing?
2- Could you include any health and safety risk registers, assessments, SSSPs, or related planning materials related to electric vehicles - if this is too large a request, particularly around transport of recently charged vehicles?
3- How many incidents on board have been recorded in the last 5 years involving Gasoline, Diesel, or LPG vehicles excluding those that were caused by direct avoidable causes (driver crashes, forgetting brakes, etc)? If possible, broken down into fuel type.
4- The same data as request 3, except for Plug-In Electric vehicles?
5- Was any consultation done with industry or government bodies (vehicle manufacturers, charging providers, EECA, Maritime NZ, FENZ, etc) before instituting these new policies? If so, what were their recommendations?
6- What is the process for terminal/check-in staff to validate and verify charging time or any other attributes specific to plug-in electric vehicles?
7- What policies or procedures apply to specific loading areas or procedures for alternatively fueled vehicles?
Yours faithfully,
Matt Johnston
