Safer driving

Charles Finley made this Official Information request to Phil Twyford

The request was successful.

From: Charles Finley

Dear Minister of Transport,

With regards to ongoing education of motorists about safe driving practices.

What programmes are in place to ensure that those who use the roads in NZ are aware of safe driving practices? I am often appalled / outraged by the driving practices in NZ, be it tailgating on highways, driving slow in the outside lane causing dangerous undertaking, or manoeuvring without being aware of other drivers to name a few.

I often wonder why I don’t see campaigns similar to those like the Safer Boating campaigns (like on social media or TV). It seems like some simple education programmes would benefit here, both from a safety perspective as well as good moving traffic.

Yours faithfully,

Charles
