Department of Conservation
Hi John -
Further to Andrew Baucke's email to you below, I can advise you that you will receive a response from Lyn Mayes, Chair, Auckland Conservation Board.
I support the Department's day to day relationship with the Conservation Board on behalf of Andrew. I will be coordinating the preparation of the Board's response, as the Department holds the Board's records and we provide administrative support for the Board.
If possible it would be good to speak with you about your request to help me understand the context for your request. Where we can we try and engage with requestors as that will often assist us to determine with more certainty the information that they are seeking, and provide some context for it.
My contact phone numbers are in my address details below.

Dear Joanne Ah Young,
Thank you for your reply. It would be grateful if you could pass the following questions to the Board for their next meeting for further discussion.
1. Most community event the Board has engaged are iwis, I would like to request the Board to think around how they can engage to other ethnic community group within Auckland, e.g. Chinese community that you have mentioned in your answer. "The Board is currently working with the Department to identify ways by which it might engage with one of Auckland largest ethnic groups, the Chinese community. This work is still in the very early stages of discussion, but the Board is taking a lead from the Department of Conservation which has undertaken some new initiatives over the past year to engage with that particular community."
2. I noted the Board has limited budget, but given Auckland Board represent way more people than other boards, I would like to request the board to consider to request more budget from DOC to be use in marketing or community engagement and the board member should attend more community events.
3. In your answers in Q2, I noted the Board has not engage with the community this year. I would like to request the board to think and consider what they can do in the remaining time of 2019. They should be more actively engage with the iwi and mana whenua, and community and volunteer groups
Yours sincerely,
john luke
