Breakdown of stationary vehicle offence infringement notice data

B M Murrah made this Official Information request to Dunedin City Council

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Dunedin City Council should have responded by now (details and exceptions). You can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: B M Murrah

Dear Dunedin City Council,

Official Information Act request

Under the Official Information Act 1982 I seek information and data relating to parking infringement notices issued by the DCC from the 2011-2012 financial year and to the present day. Using a typical infringement notice as a guide I have indicated which data fields I am requesting.

I view the information fields I am requesting to be non-risks to anyone’s privacy and should be public information as a matter of accountability. Furthermore, given this data should be centralised in one database in my mind it should not be difficult to extract these data fields into a spreadsheet file to share to me. This may be more difficult than I imagine and I am interested in communicating and helping in anyway I can in this process.

For a guide-model of a successful OIA request that is similar to this request, I link you this OIA made earlier in the year to the NZ Police about traffic offences in aggregate:

I seek information and data in aggregate relating to the following data fields recorded in a typical infringement notice issued by the Dunedin City Council:

2.3 Suburb:
2.4 Locality:

3. Offence
3.1 Date:
3.2 Day:
3.3 Time:
3.4 From:
3.5 To:
3.6 Code:
3.7 Description:

4. Meter No:
4.1 Restriction:
4.2 Distance From Sign:

B M Murrah
