DHB protocols to assist Oranga Tamariki

Matthew Whitehead made this Official Information request to Capital and Coast District Health Board

Capital and Coast District Health Board did not have the information requested.

From: Matthew Whitehead

Dear Capital and Coast District Health Board,

I write to you to make an Official Information Act request regarding what protocols, if any, you have as to how DHB employees should respond to requests from Oranga Tamariki to uplift newborn babies.

If there are such protocols, could you please provide a copy, and also explain:

a) What their purposes are if not stated.

b) Who was involved in formulating those protocols, whether any expert advice was provided, and if so what the purpose of seeking such advice was, if not stated.

c) When these protocols were last reviewed, and are there any plans for a review based on the events that have recently been covered in the media regarding the Oranga Tamariki uplift incident in Hawkes Bay? (covered by Newsroom.co.nz, if reference is required)

I am resident in New Zealand and a citizen of New Zealand. Thanks for your time.

Yours faithfully,

Matthew Whitehead

Dear Matthew

Thank you for your request for official information, received by Capital & Coast District Health Board on 17 June 2019.

Your request has been received and logged. As required under the Official Information Act 1982, we will respond to your request within 20 working days. You should receive a response on or before 15 July 2019.

If a large amount of information has been requested or if the district health board needs to consult in order to make a decision, we may need to extend this date (this is provided for in section 15A of the Act). We will advise you if such an extension is necessary.

Capital & Coast District Health Board provides the first five hours of staff time to prepare a response free-of-charge. If your OIA is expected to take longer, we will inform you of the charges, and give you the opportunity to change or refine the request to reduce or remove the need to charge.

Kind regards

Robyn Fitzgerald
