Information about process about a particular bus hitting a parked car

Hugh Davenport made this Official Information request to Wellington Regional Council

The request was successful.

From: Hugh Davenport

Dear Wellington Regional Council,

Just letting you know that 7th Jan one of your Metlink buses collided with a parked car causing damage. The Police were not informed, the driver of the vehicle was not at the scene to be informed. This goes against the responsibilities of a driver as per the road code (https://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/roadc...).

Confirmation from the Police is at https://fyi.org.nz/request/9344-informat...

This was related to the LGOIMA request that I withdrew (https://fyi.org.nz/request/9343-informat...). I would like to reopen this request to determine whether the bus driver made contact with the driver and/or owner of the vehicle they collided with. If contact was made, I would like to know how long after the collision contact was made with the driver.

If the driver did not make contact with the driver/owner of the other vehicle, and they did not make contact with the Police (as confirmed by the Police), I would like to know what actions Metlink and the operators took towards the illegality of this driver.

I would also like to know Metlink and the operators actions towards this incident in general if any.

The bus information: Route 1GV, LME492.
The car information: unknown
The crash location: Courtney Place by St James, Wellington, bus stop 5002
The crash time: 7th January 2019, 3:28pm.

Yours faithfully,

Hugh Davenport
