Dear Cody,

Thank you for your email, received on June 28^th 2018. You requested the
following information, under the Local Government Official Information and
Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA):

Please provide the number of "Bin not collected" enquiries and complaints
for the area known as Awatea Green, along with the reasons for
non-collection.

Response:

Since August 2016 there has been 18 reported missed services within Awatea
Green. They were:

o 7 x recycling missed services including 1 packed bin
o 7 x organics missed services including 1 packed bin and 1 spillage
o 4 x rubbish missed services including 2 packed bins and 1 late
presentation

A “packed bin” is defined when our contractor’s GPS system records a bin
lift but the contents are too tightly packed to empty.

"Spillage" refers to when material escapes the bin on emptying. Our
contractor is required to return within 4 hours of notification and clean
up any spillage outside of the wheelie bin and re-empty if required.

“Late presentation” is when the bin was presented after the collection
vehicle had passed.

All collection vehicles have been installed with a GPS system that records
bins lifts, bins not being out and non-compliance.

Reasons for non-collection can also include the following:

o Bin behind parked cars/obstructions and therefore driver does not see
it
o Road works
o New property – bin placement may differ to where driver would expect
to collect bin from

Please note that in these instances our contractor has returned for these
missed services.

You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review our
decision. Complaints can be sent by email to
[1][email address], by fax to (04) 471 2254, or by post to
The Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington 6143.

Publication of responses to LGOIMA requests

Please note: our LGOIMA responses may be published on the Christchurch
City Council website a month after they have been responded to, with
requesters’ personal details withheld. If you have any concerns about this
please contact the Official Information team on
[2][CCC request email].

Yours sincerely,
