Dear Mr Keana

We refer to your request for information dated 12 May 2018 with the
Ministry of Transport in relation to the total number of trips made to and
from Waiheke Island with the SuperGold card in the last three years.  Your
request was referred to Auckland Transport on 21 May 2018 for a direct
response.

It appears your original request will need to be clarified or amended to
enable us to respond.  We therefore request the following clarification:

1.                   Are you asking about all senior citizen passengers
travelling to/from Waiheke irrespective of travel time?

NB. Records for all Senior Citizen travel prior to July 2016 are not
available. Prior to this Senior Citizens could travel without the use of a
HOP card, and therefore AT relied upon data provided by the operators.

Therefore, we can only provide total information from July 2016 to date.

2.                   Are you asking about subsidised and non-subsidised
travel by a passenger using a AT HOP card with a SuperGold concession
loaded?

3.                   Which concession are you wanting information on as
the following question is unclear:

“In addition can you also provide the cost that the provider was paid in
total for these trips each year”

There are three concession schemes under which AT reimburses operators to
provide travel to senior citizens, these are:

a.       SuperGold – off peak travel for those eligible for a SuperGold
card – this is funded by Ministry of Social Development and administered
by NZTA

b.       Senior Citizen Peak – all senior citizens with a SuperGold card
with the SuperGold concession – funded by Auckland Council;

c.       Auckland Council/Auckland Transport – senior citizen card – this
enables those passengers not eligible for a Supergold card to receive free
off peak travel provided they meet all other criteria.

4.                   Given the phrasing of that question, are you asking
about subsidised travel only?

5.                   Are you wanting data presented by calendar year vs.
financial year?

6.                   As there is more than one provider that operates
ferry trips to Waiheke, is it acceptable to combine the amount paid to all
operators and provide this as one figure instead of  the costs broken out
by each provider?

Please note, any clarification or amendment of a request is considered to
be a new request for the purpose of calculating the maximum statutory
timeframe for response—see section 13(7) of the LGOIMA.

Kind regards
