Thorndon Quay

Nick R made this Official Information request to Wellington City Council

The request was partially successful.

From: Nick R

Dear Wellington City Council,

I understand that Council recently resolved on the future layout of cycling lanes and / or parking along Thorndon Quay.

Can you please advise:

a. What that layout will look like? (Diagrams or plans would be very helpful)

b. If there will be a fully separated cycleway on Thorndon Quay? I understand this is a high volume route for cyclists into Wellington CBD

c. If the total number of parks along Thorndon Quay will ultimately be reduced, what they will be reduced FROM and what they will be reduced TO?

d. Can you please list all relevant traffic engineering guidelines and standards that have been considered in the course of this design. I'd be happy to receive documentation directly from Council's engineering advisors.

e. Can you list and provide all pedestrian and cycling assessments (including of volumes, safety assessments) that have been conducted in the course of the Council's considerations on the future of the redesign of Thorndon Qyay? I'd be happy to receive documentation directly from Council's engineering advisors.

Yours faithfully,

John Kerrigan

Hello John,

Thank you for your patience.

The Council’s Planning manager for Network Improvements, Paul Barker, believes that most of your request should be answered by the paper that was submitted to the Council Strategy Committee on 12 April. I have linked directly to the paper here – https://wellington.govt.nz/your-council/... It is item 3.2, beginning on page 39.

For further discussion, Paul is happy to talk with you or meet in person to detail the extent of the Thorndon Quay cycleway work. If you would like to take this option, please contact him directly – email: [email address] or phone: 04 803 8043.

Kind regards

Chris
